Alvin Lustig
Alvin Lustig. One of the forefathers of American design. His work from the early 1940s to 1950s is considered contemporary and has with held the test of time. His masterful work helped start the creative revolution. One of his greatest strengths, was the ability to visualize the problem before him in 3 dimensions. Alvin Lustig mastered the elements of design so well that he continued to create advertisements despite blindness at the end of his career.

I loved this assignment. 4 some reason I haven't ever created patterns b4. Patterns have always seemed intimidating to me. The construction of a pattern through type made me love patterns.
When creating my patterns I had the store Anthropologie in mind. The patterns are amazing there. When viewing patterns on the web I found the designs I liked the most were the ones that utilized scale. The tediousness of the particular shape and making it work was oddly enough an inspiration to me as well.
